The subfloor must be dry, clean, sound and free from dust, loose material, wax, oil, paint and other contaminants. Mix the powder with clean water using a low-speed drill and paddle until smooth and lump-free. Apply within the stated working time using a suitable trowel, smoothing rake or pump. Always follow the latest Mapei technical and safety guidance, and use an appropriate primer where the substrate requires it.
Mapei Ultraplan Eco is an ultra-fast hardening, self-levelling compound for smoothing and preparing internal subfloors. Supplied in a 20kg bag, it creates a durable, even surface over suitable new or existing substrates before the final floor finish is installed.
Its fluid consistency helps achieve a smooth finish with minimal trowel marks, while its high resistance to everyday loads makes it well suited to busy residential and commercial spaces. It is ideal when you need to level a floor efficiently before fitting carpet, vinyl, LVT, tiles or wood flooring.
Prepare the subfloor so it is sound, dry and free from loose particles, dust, grease, paint, curing residues and other contaminants. Repair cracks and weak areas before levelling. Prime porous, absorbent or otherwise unsuitable substrates with the correct Mapei primer for the surface condition.
Mix the 20kg bag with clean water at the ratio specified in the current technical data sheet. Use a mechanical mixer to create a smooth, lump-free, self-levelling consistency. Do not add extra water once the mix has started to set.
Apply Ultraplan Eco to the prepared surface using a suitable trowel, squeegee or pin rake. It is designed for application from 1mm to 10mm per coat. Where greater thickness is required, follow Mapei’s specific guidance rather than exceeding the stated application range.
Work within the product’s usable working time and use a spiked roller where appropriate to help produce an even finish. Allow the compound to cure fully before applying adhesive or laying the finished floor, with drying time dependent on the thickness, substrate and site conditions.

Ultraplan Eco is a subfloor smoothing compound and must be protected until the final floor covering is fitted. Keep the cured surface clean, dry and free from dust, adhesive residues, oils and damage caused by other site work.
Do not use the levelled layer as a permanent wearing surface. Avoid dragging equipment or placing concentrated loads onto the compound before it has cured and been covered.
Inspect the floor before applying adhesive or installing the chosen finish. Remove contamination and repair any damaged areas in line with the manufacturer’s current guidance.
