Before fitting, ensure the subfloor is clean, dry and level. Check that the carpet, underlay and heating system are all approved for use together. This product is not recommended for electric-mat or dry underfloor heating systems. Lay the underlay flat with joins closely butted and taped, then install the carpet using a suitable stretch-fit method.
Duralay Heatflow Carpet is a specialist low-tog underlay designed for carpet installations over compatible underfloor heating systems. Its 0.75 tog rating allows heat to pass through more easily than a standard insulating underlay, helping the warmth reach the room efficiently.
Made from high-density sponge rubber, it still provides support, comfort and protection beneath the carpet. At 6.1 mm thick, it offers a balanced feel underfoot without creating a high thermal barrier between the heating system and the room.
Heatflow Carpet also provides 31 dB impact sound insulation, making it a practical choice where reduced footfall noise matters. It is intended for stretch-fit carpet installation.
Before installation, store the underlay and carpet in the room to acclimatise. Ensure the subfloor is dry, clean, smooth and sound, with any raised fixings, loose material or significant unevenness corrected before work begins.
Heatflow is designed for stretch-fit carpet installation. Fit suitable gripper around the room perimeter, then lay the underlay flat with the joints closely butted together. Do not overlap the sections; tape each joint securely and trim neatly around doorways, corners and fixed items.
Stretch the carpet over the underlay and secure it to the gripper using the appropriate fitting equipment. Where underfloor heating is present, confirm that the carpet and complete flooring system are approved for use with it, and follow all temperature and commissioning guidance from the relevant manufacturers.

Duralay Heatflow is installed beneath the carpet and requires no routine cleaning once fitted. Maintain the carpet using the manufacturer’s recommended vacuuming and cleaning method, avoiding excessive wetting that could allow moisture to pass through to the underlay or subfloor.
For rooms with underfloor heating, operate the system in accordance with the carpet and heating-system guidance. Sudden changes in temperature should be avoided, and any plumbing leak or water ingress should be dealt with quickly to protect the full flooring build-up.
