Ensure plywood and hardboard are securely screw-fixed before applying the compound. Mix with clean water until smooth, then apply with a steel trowel as a thin scratch coat or up to 1 mm where required. Allow the material to harden fully before fitting the chosen floorcovering, and always follow the latest F. Ball technical data sheet.
F. Ball Stopgap Micro Rapid is a rapid-setting, rapid-drying floor finishing compound for preparing small areas quickly before new flooring is fitted. It is designed to leave an ultra-smooth surface over suitable plywood and oil-tempered hardboard, as well as repairing minor defects in screeds and existing smoothing compounds.
The flexible formula can be applied as a scratch coat or feathered to a fine edge, making it useful for filling board joints, screw heads and small surface imperfections. It requires no primer and can be applied up to 1 mm thick, helping keep preparation work moving when time is limited.
At 20°C, Stopgap Micro Rapid is walk-on hard and ready to receive floorcoverings from approximately 20 minutes. It is supplied as an 8 kg pre-blended powder and mixed with clean water before use.
Use STOPGAP Micro Rapid for minor repairs, plywood or oil-tempered hardboard joints, screw-head indentations and feather-edge finishing. The surface must be rigid, dry, absorbent, clean and free from dust, loose material, grease or other contaminants. Plywood and hardboard must be securely screw-fixed before treatment.
Add the 8kg pouch gradually to 4 litres of clean water while mixing with a power whisk until a smooth, lump-free consistency is achieved. Apply as a tight scratch coat, building only to the permitted maximum thickness of 1mm. Do not use the product to fill deep hollows or to level a significantly uneven subfloor.
STOPGAP Micro Rapid requires no primer on suitable surfaces. Allow the compound to set and dry before laying the floor covering; under normal conditions it can be ready from approximately 20 minutes at 20°C. Site temperature, humidity and subfloor conditions can affect drying time.

STOPGAP Micro Rapid is a floor-finishing compound used beneath the final floor covering, so it does not require ongoing maintenance once it has been covered. Keep unused powder sealed in its original pouch and stored in a dry location; moisture contamination can make the material unusable.
After installation, protect the prepared surface from water, heavy impact and contamination until the final floor covering is fitted. If the area is damaged before covering, repair it with a compatible product and allow it to set fully before proceeding.
