The substrate must be clean, absorbent, sound and mechanically prepared before use. Remove laitance, curing compounds and other contaminants, and repair rough or damaged areas before applying the membrane. Mix and apply both components strictly in line with F. Ball’s current technical data sheet, then allow the membrane to cure fully before continuing with the approved flooring system.
STOPGAP F77 is a rapid-curing, one-coat waterproof surface membrane for controlling residual construction moisture and rising damp before floor coverings are installed. The solvent-free, two-part epoxy system creates a robust moisture barrier, allowing flooring work to proceed where subfloor moisture levels would otherwise risk damaging adhesives or the finished floor.
The black-pigmented coating makes it easier to see coverage during application. It is suitable for fast-track new-build and refurbishment projects, with a working time of approximately 30 minutes and a cure time of around three hours at 20°C.
STOPGAP F77 is a solvent-free, two-part epoxy waterproof surface membrane for isolating residual construction moisture and rising damp before flooring installation. A correctly applied single coat can impede moisture where relative humidity readings are up to 98%.
Take and record moisture readings before work begins. The substrate must be clean, absorbent and mechanically prepared where necessary, with surface contaminants, laitance and weak material removed. Rough or damaged concrete and sand/cement screeds should be repaired or smoothed before the membrane is applied.
Mix the complete resin and hardener components of the 14kg kit as directed in the current technical data sheet. Apply at the specified coverage rate, using the pigmented black finish to check that the membrane is uniform and continuous. Do not leave missed areas, thin patches or pinholes.
At 20°C, the mixed product has a working time of approximately 30 minutes and normally cures in around 3 hours. Follow F. Ball’s guidance for the compatible system to be applied above it.

STOPGAP F77 is a moisture-control membrane that must be covered by the specified smoothing compound, adhesive or floorcovering system. Once cured, protect the black membrane from punctures, dust, standing water and site traffic until the next installation stage.
Inspect the surface before overcoating. It should form a continuous, pinhole-free barrier; repair or reapply any areas that do not achieve full coverage before proceeding.
