Prepare the subfloor so it is clean, dry, smooth and level before fitting. Lay the underlay flat with the joins closely butted together and secured using appropriate underlay tape. Install a compatible carpet in line with the carpet manufacturer’s recommended fitting method.
Footfall DS90 Comfort is a high-density carpet underlay designed for areas where the floor needs to cope with regular use while still feeling comfortable underfoot. At 9 mm thick, it gives carpet a supportive base and helps the finished floor feel more substantial.
The underlay has excellent resilience and recovery from pressure caused by heavy furniture, helping the carpet retain a neater appearance over time. It is rated for heavy domestic and heavy commercial use, making it a practical choice for busy homes as well as professional flooring projects.
With 33 dB impact sound insulation, Footfall DS90 Comfort also helps soften the sound of footsteps travelling through the floor. Each roll covers 10.96 m².
Footfall DS90 is intended for a double-stick carpet installation. Before fitting, allow the underlay and carpet to acclimatise in the room. The subfloor must be dry, smooth, clean and structurally sound, with all loose material, old adhesive residues and defects removed or repaired.
Apply a suitable release-type tackifier to the subfloor in accordance with the adhesive manufacturer’s instructions and allow it to dry. Lay the underlay flat into position, keeping joints close-butted with no gaps or overlaps. Secure every joint with appropriate underlay tape and position underlay seams away from carpet seams where practical.
Once the underlay is correctly bonded, apply a compatible permanent carpet adhesive and lay the carpet into it. Smooth the covering to remove air pockets and ensure full adhesive contact, paying particular attention to seams, edges, entrances and areas likely to receive wheeled traffic.

Footfall DS90 Comfort Underlay is fitted below the carpet and needs no routine cleaning. Its dense rubber-crumb construction is designed to recover well from furniture indentations and support carpet in busy domestic and commercial areas, so maintain the carpet above in accordance with its manufacturer’s recommendations.
Protect the flooring system from water ingress. Any leak, flooding or severe wet-cleaning incident should be dealt with promptly, as moisture below the carpet can compromise the adhesive bond and affect the subfloor.
