Ball & Young Cloud 9 Radiance is a firm, high-performance carpet underlay designed for demanding installations. At 6mm thick, it creates a flatter, more stable base beneath carpet, making it particularly useful in larger areas, busy commercial settings and spaces where a neat, controlled finish is important.
Radiance is also a strong choice for carpet over underfloor heating. Its low 1.3 tog rating allows heat to pass through more efficiently than thicker underlays, while still adding 30dB sound insulation and dependable support. It can be fitted using either stretch-fit or double-stick methods, giving installers flexibility across a wide range of projects.
Prepare the subfloor so it is clean, dry, smooth and firm. Remove loose debris, protruding fixings and surface defects before laying the underlay, particularly on large commercial areas where a flat carpet finish is required.
Lay the 6mm Radiance underlay flat, bringing the edges of adjoining lengths tightly together without overlap. Trim around walls, thresholds and fixed features, then tape the seams securely using suitable underlay tape.
Radiance is suitable for both stretch-fit and double-stick carpet installations. Use the appropriate gripper or compatible adhesive system for the chosen method. It is designed for heavy-contract settings and is suitable for use over compatible underfloor-heating systems.

Ball & Young Radiance Cloud 9 is installed beneath the carpet and does not require routine cleaning. Maintain the carpet above in line with its care guidance, and address water ingress promptly to protect the underlay and subfloor.
When lifting or replacing carpet, inspect the underlay for moisture damage, tears or excessive compression. Replace any affected areas before installing the new floor covering.
