Ensure the subfloor is sound, clean and correctly prepared before use. Mix and apply STOPGAP 300 in accordance with F. Ball’s current technical data sheet. Where it is being used as an exposed wearing surface in areas that may encounter water or other fluids, protect it with STOPGAP SEAL in line with the manufacturer’s guidance.
STOPGAP 300 is a fast-drying, heavy-duty smoothing compound for preparing sound internal subfloors before new floor coverings are fitted. It is suitable for light through to heavy-duty areas, offering a durable, self-smoothing surface across a broad range of absorbent and non-absorbent substrates.
Supplied as a pre-blended powder, STOPGAP 300 mixes with water and can be applied by hand or pump. It can also be used as a finished wearing surface in appropriate internal commercial and industrial environments, giving installers flexibility where a separate floor covering is not required.
STOPGAP 300 is a fast-drying, water-mix, self-smoothing compound for preparing sound absorbent and non-absorbent internal subfloors. It is suitable for light- to heavy-duty areas and can be applied by hand or pump.
Make sure the substrate is sound, clean and free from loose material, grease, dust and other contaminants. Check the correct preparation and priming requirements for the existing surface, particularly with non-absorbent backgrounds, before starting work.
Mix the 25kg powder with clean water in the ratio stated in the current technical data sheet until smooth and lump-free. Apply evenly at the required depth; the standard application range is 2mm to 20mm. When using STOPGAP 300 as a wearing surface, apply at a minimum of 5mm.
At 20°C, the compound is normally walkable after around 90 minutes. Floorcoverings can be installed over absorbent surfaces from approximately 6 hours, subject to thickness and site conditions.

When STOPGAP 300 is used beneath a floorcovering, keep the cured surface clean, dry and protected from damage until the next stage of the installation. Remove dust and debris before applying adhesive or fitting the final floor finish.
It can also be used as a finished wearing surface in suitable internal commercial and industrial areas. Where the cured surface may come into direct contact with water or other fluids, seal it with STOPGAP SEAL from 24 hours after application to help protect the floor and make routine cleaning easier.
