Prepare the subfloor so it is sound, smooth, dry and free from dust, grease, loose material and other contaminants. Shake the container well, apply an even coat across the full surface, and allow the primer to dry fully before applying the compatible smoothing compound. Drying time and coverage can vary with site conditions and substrate texture.
STOPGAP P141 is a fast-drying acrylic primer formulated for non-absorbent subfloors. It provides a textured surface that helps compatible STOPGAP smoothing compounds achieve a strong, reliable bond before the final floor covering is installed.
The yellow pigment makes it easy to see where the primer has been applied, helping achieve even coverage across the floor. Its rapid drying time makes it particularly useful where preparation needs to progress efficiently.
STOPGAP P141 is a 5L acrylic primer for non-absorbent subfloors. It is designed to improve the bond and application characteristics of compatible STOPGAP smoothing compounds on surfaces such as ceramic tiles, treated power-floated concrete and waterproof surface membranes.
Prepare the substrate so it is sound, clean and free from grease, dust, loose material and contaminants. Remove anything that could prevent adhesion, then confirm that P141 is the correct primer for the selected smoothing-compound system.
Apply P141 neat and evenly using a suitable roller or brush. The yellow pigmentation provides a clear visual indication of coverage. Allow the primer to dry to a hard, textured finish before applying the next layer.
At 20°C on a non-absorbent surface, P141 dries from approximately 15 minutes. A 5L container covers around 65m², depending on the surface profile. It is also recommended before STOPGAP 600 when used over non-absorbent surfaces at depths above 20mm.

STOPGAP P141 is a primer layer, so it should be kept clean and undisturbed once dry. Protect the yellow primed surface from dust, water, foot traffic and other contamination before applying the compatible smoothing compound.
Inspect the coating before continuing. It should create an even, textured film across the whole area; re-prime any missed, damaged or contaminated sections in accordance with the latest manufacturer guidance.
