Ball & Young Cosi 8 is an 8mm carpet underlay made to add a softer, more comfortable feel beneath your carpet. It is a practical choice for bedrooms, living rooms, dining rooms and other light to general domestic areas where you want more cushioning without using an overly thick underlay.
The 8mm APT core gives the carpet a supportive base while improving comfort underfoot. It also helps reduce impact noise by up to 31dB, which can make rooms feel quieter and less echoey. With a thermal rating of 2.4 tog, it provides an extra layer of insulation between the carpet and subfloor.
Cosi 8 is lightweight and easy to handle, making it suitable for both professional fitting and home projects. It is manufactured in the UK and is covered by a guarantee for the lifetime of the initial carpet installation when used in recommended domestic areas.
Fit Cosi 8 over a clean, dry, smooth and secure subfloor. Remove dust, protruding fixings and loose material first, as these can show through or affect the finished carpet.
Lay the underlay with the printed non-woven surface facing upwards towards the carpet. Run the lengths in the same direction, cut neatly to the perimeter and butt the joins tightly together without overlapping. Secure the seams with suitable underlay tape.
Use gripper around the room perimeter where required and fit the carpet over the completed underlay using the carpet manufacturer’s recommended method. Cosi 8 is intended for light to general domestic areas with low-to-medium wear.

Ball & Young Cosi 8 is installed beneath carpet and does not need routine cleaning once covered. Keep the subfloor dry and in good condition to help preserve the underlay and carpet above.
If the carpet is lifted for repair or replacement, check the underlay for moisture damage, crushing or tears before reusing it. Replace affected sections where necessary, particularly if water damage has reached the subfloor.
