Ensure the subfloor is sound, smooth, dry and free from dust, grease, laitance and other contaminants before priming. Shake well before use, apply an even continuous film with a roller or soft brush, and allow it to dry fully before applying the next compatible product. Coverage and drying times will vary with substrate condition and site temperature.
STOPGAP P131 is a versatile floor primer for preparing subfloors before applying compatible smoothing compounds or adhesives. It improves adhesion on smooth, non-absorbent surfaces and helps control suction on absorbent bases, supporting a more even application.
Its green colour makes coverage easy to monitor during application. Supplied in a 5-litre container, P131 is suitable for a broad range of internal flooring-preparation work, including projects with normal underfloor heating systems.
STOPGAP P131 is a 5L general-purpose floor primer for preparing both absorbent and non-absorbent internal subfloors. It promotes adhesion for compatible STOPGAP smoothing compounds and helps control rapid moisture loss on absorbent surfaces.
Prepare the floor so it is sound, clean and free from loose material, dust, grease, laitance and other contaminants. Select the application method to suit the substrate: P131 is applied diluted on absorbent surfaces and neat on non-absorbent surfaces, following the current technical data sheet.
Apply the primer evenly with a suitable roller or brush. Its green colour provides a visual guide to coverage, helping ensure that no untreated areas are missed. Allow the coating to dry fully before moving on to the next stage.
At 20°C, P131 normally dries in around 20–30 minutes on absorbent substrates and from approximately 60 minutes on non-absorbent surfaces

STOPGAP P131 is a preparatory primer and should remain clean and protected after drying. Avoid walking on the primed area or allowing dust, debris and other contamination to settle on it before the smoothing compound or adhesive is applied.
Check the green coating for complete, even coverage before continuing. Re-prime any areas that have been damaged or contaminated in accordance with F. Ball’s current instructions.
