Lay UZIN RR 185 loosely onto a suitably prepared substrate, keeping the membrane flat and accurately trimmed. Use a compatible adhesive and floor-covering system approved for installation over the membrane, and obtain technical advice for specialist applications such as linoleum or demanding site conditions.
UZIN RR 185 is a loose-laid stabilising underlay and sheet membrane for internal renovation projects. It creates a physical separating layer between the existing subfloor and a new floor covering, helping installers work over suitable damp, contaminated or difficult surfaces without extensive removal work.
At approximately 1.2mm thick, the membrane provides a low-build-up solution while remaining impervious and non-absorbent. It is designed for use beneath new textile, PVC, cushioned vinyl and linoleum floor coverings, and can also allow the floor-construction system to be removed more easily in future refurbishment work.
UZIN RR 185 is a resilient, loose-laid fibreglass underlay and sheet membrane for internal renovation work. It creates a stabilising, isolating and moisture-impervious layer between a problematic substrate and a new compatible floorcovering.
Prepare the existing surface by removing loose debris and anything that could prevent the membrane from sitting flat. RR 185 can be used to physically separate new textile, PVC, cushioned-vinyl and, subject to technical advice, linoleum floorcoverings from old, damp or contaminated substrates. Confirm that the proposed flooring adhesive is suitable for bonding onto the membrane.
Cut the sheet accurately and lay it loose across the prepared area without creases or tension. Keep the membrane continuous across the floor and follow UZIN’s detailed joint, edge and floorcovering-bonding instructions for the selected system. Do not use it as a substitute for a complete waterproofing design where one is required.
The sheet is approximately 1.2mm thick and supplied in 2m x 25m rolls, covering 50m². Refer to the UZIN RR 185 product information before installation.

UZIN RR 185 is a concealed stabilising and moisture-barrier layer, so it has no separate routine maintenance once covered. Keep the final floorcovering clean in line with its own manufacturer’s instructions and avoid damage from sharp objects or fixings that could penetrate the installed system.
If the floorcovering is removed during future refurbishment, inspect the membrane for cuts, tears or displaced sections before reusing or replacing it. The loose-laid system can be removed cleanly when required.
