Before fitting, make sure the timber subfloor is dry, clean, stable and securely fixed. Lay the sheets in a staggered pattern, leaving appropriate gaps where required by the flooring system, then fix them using the fasteners and spacing recommended by the floor-covering and adhesive manufacturer. Sand or fill joints where necessary to achieve a smooth finish before installing the final floor.
SP101 Plywood 4mm is a flooring-grade sheet material designed to help prepare timber subfloors before the final floor covering is fitted. The smooth, consistent face provides a practical base for creating a more even surface, helping reduce the effect of joints, minor surface variation and imperfections beneath resilient flooring.
Each large 2.44m x 1.22m sheet covers approximately 2.98m², making it an efficient option for larger preparation areas. The 4mm nominal thickness keeps floor build-up low while providing a reliable underlay layer for professional flooring installations.
This 4mm SP101 large sheet measures 2440mm x 1220mm and is intended for flooring underlay and subfloor preparation. Store the sheets flat, dry and supported before use, then inspect each board for damage or distortion.
The existing subfloor must be sound, dry, level and suitable for the proposed floorcovering. Check the flooring manufacturer’s subfloor requirements and carry out any necessary moisture testing or repairs before laying the plywood.
Plan the board layout to avoid four corners meeting at one point, then cut accurately around walls, thresholds and fixed features. Position the sheets with the prepared face uppermost where applicable, and secure them using a fixing method and spacing approved for the substrate and flooring system.

SP101 plywood is a subfloor-preparation material rather than a finished floor surface. Once installed, keep it clean, dry and protected from spills, site traffic and damage until the final floorcovering is fitted.
Remove dust, offcuts and raised fixing heads before covering. If the boards become wet, swollen, damaged or uneven, assess and rectify the affected area before proceeding with the flooring installation.
After the final floorcovering has been installed, follow that product’s own care guidance.
