The subfloor must be sound, dry, clean and suitably prepared before application. Mix and apply STOPGAP 1100 strictly in line with F. Ball’s current technical data sheet, particularly where calcium sulphate screeds require mechanical preparation or moisture testing before floor-covering installation.
STOPGAP 1100 is a self-levelling calcium sulphate smoothing compound from F. Ball, formulated primarily for preparing sound calcium sulphate screeds, including anhydrite. It produces a smooth, level surface before the installation of new floor coverings, helping create the right foundation for a high-quality finish.
Supplied as a pre-blended dry powder, STOPGAP 1100 is mixed with water and can be applied by hand or pump. Its low odour, low pH and protein-free formulation make it a practical choice for both general flooring work and biologically sensitive environments.
STOPGAP 1100 is a water-mix, self-levelling calcium sulphate smoothing compound, supplied as a 22kg dry powder. It is particularly designed for sound calcium sulphate screeds, including anhydrite, before installing a new floorcovering.
The subfloor must be sound, dry and properly prepared before application. Remove loose material, contaminants and any surface irregularities, then use the appropriate primer for the substrate. For calcium sulphate screeds, use STOPGAP P121 where specified by F. Ball.
Mix the powder with clean water in the ratio stated in the current technical data sheet, using suitable mixing equipment until a lump-free consistency is achieved. Apply the compound evenly and allow it to self-smooth; the normal application range is 2mm to 10mm, with deeper filling possible where required.
STOPGAP 1100 can normally be walked on after around 2 hours and can receive floorcoverings from approximately 24 hours, subject to thickness and site conditions.

STOPGAP 1100 is a subfloor smoothing compound and should be protected once cured until the final floorcovering is installed. Keep the prepared surface dry, clean and free from impact damage, contamination and unnecessary traffic.
Before fitting the floorcovering, remove all dust and check the surface for damage or uneven areas. Do not use STOPGAP 1100 as the finished wearing surface; follow the maintenance guidance for the final flooring once installed.
