The timber subfloor must be dry, clean, level and securely fixed before installation. Lay the plywood sheets with staggered joints and use a fixing method and spacing appropriate for the flooring system. Fill or smooth joints and fixings as required before applying the final floor finish.
SP101 Plywood 18mm Large Sheet is a robust flooring-grade plywood panel for preparing timber subfloors before the final floor covering is fitted. Its greater thickness makes it a useful choice where the project calls for a more substantial overlay, while the smooth, accurate surface helps form a dependable base for flooring installation.
Each 2.44m x 1.22m sheet covers approximately 2.98m², offering efficient coverage for larger rooms and commercial preparation work. Developed specifically with flooring applications in mind, SP101 provides a quality panel for resilient floor-covering systems.
This SP101 large sheet measures 2440mm x 1220mm and provides a 18mm plywood layer for suitable flooring-preparation projects. Store it flat in dry conditions, then check the plywood and existing timber subfloor for compatible moisture content before installation.
Prepare the subfloor so it is clean, level, stable and free from debris. For 18mm SP101, the stamped marking is on the reverse side, so install the clean, unstamped face upward where a smooth finish is required.
Lay the sheets with staggered joints; over floorboards, orient them perpendicular to the existing boards where possible. Select a suitable mechanical fixing for the subfloor and countersink all heads. Hanson recommends maximum centres of 100mm around the perimeter, set about 18mm from the edge, and 150mm within the panel.
Ensure the finished plywood surface is smooth, dry and dust-free before applying the final flooring system. Refer to the Hanson SP101 product data sheet before installation.

The 9mm SP101 plywood should be protected from water, dirt and impact damage while the floor build-up is being completed. It is not a final wearing surface, so keep it covered or restrict traffic until the chosen floorcovering is ready to be installed.
Before covering, inspect the boards for damaged faces, loose edges, raised fixings and surface contamination. Any dampness introduced during preparation must be allowed to dry out fully before adhesives or floorcoverings are applied.
