Gluing the tongue-and-groove joints is recommended to increase joint strength and help accommodate minor variations between joists. Although P5 chipboard is moisture resistant, it is not waterproof and should not be exposed to standing water or prolonged wet conditions.
P5 Flooring Grade Chipboard is a durable structural sheet material designed for use in flooring installations. Its high-density construction creates a stable base, while the tongue-and-groove profile on all four edges allows adjoining sheets to connect securely.
The moisture-resistant P5 classification makes it suitable for humid interior environments such as kitchens and bathrooms. However, the boards should always be protected from direct water exposure and prolonged wet conditions.
Manufactured using recycled wood, this chipboard offers a practical flooring solution while helping reduce the amount of wood waste sent to landfill.
Before installation, ensure the supporting structure is clean, dry, level and capable of carrying the intended load.
Lay the boards with their long edges positioned across the joists and stagger the end joints where possible. All board edges must be adequately supported. For 18mm boards, joists should normally be spaced no more than 400mm apart.
Apply a suitable adhesive to the tongue-and-groove edges before joining the boards. Secure each sheet using appropriate flooring screws or fixings, following the relevant building requirements and adhesive manufacturer’s instructions.
Allow an appropriate expansion gap around the perimeter and fixed objects. If you are uncertain about the installation requirements, consult a qualified flooring professional.

SP101 plywood is installed beneath the finished floorcovering, so it should be kept dry, clean and protected during the remainder of the project. Do not allow moisture, wet trades, heavy traffic or stored materials to damage the board surface or edges.
Before the final flooring is fitted, check that all fasteners are flush and that the boards remain smooth, stable and free from swelling or contamination. Allow any water-based seam filler or levelling compound to dry fully and return to moisture equilibrium before continuing.
