Fit the gripper around the room perimeter, leaving an appropriate gap from the wall for the carpet to be tucked and tensioned. Ensure the concrete is clean, dry and sound before fixing. For the best finish, use with a suitable underlay and have the carpet professionally stretched onto the pins.
Concrete gripper is used to hold stretched carpet firmly around the edge of a room when fitting over a concrete subfloor. The strips are placed around the perimeter, with the pins facing towards the wall, giving the carpet something secure to grip onto once it has been tensioned into place.
It is a practical essential for traditional stretch-fit carpet installations. Designed for concrete floors, this pre-nailed gripper saves time on site and helps create a tidy, secure edge beneath the skirting, doorway trim or threshold.
Concrete gripper is used to secure stretch-fitted carpet around the perimeter of rooms with a concrete or sand-and-cement subfloor. It is generally supplied with hardened masonry nails for a firm hold in suitable solid floors.
Prepare the subfloor so it is clean, dry, level and free from loose material. Check for underfloor heating pipes, electrical services or other concealed items before fixing. Measure the perimeter and cut the gripper to length using suitable tools.
Position the strips with the pins angled towards the wall, leaving a small gap between the gripper and wall or skirting to accommodate the carpet edge. Fix the strips securely with suitable masonry nails or an adhesive approved for the gripper and subfloor, where appropriate.
Lay underlay within the gripper perimeter, keeping it clear of the pins, then stretch the carpet evenly onto the gripper using suitable carpet-fitting tools. Tuck the carpet edge neatly into the perimeter gap for a secure, finished appearance.

Concrete carpet gripper is concealed beneath the carpet and does not need separate routine cleaning. Maintain the finished carpet in line with its care instructions and check the perimeter if the carpet begins to loosen, ripple or lift near a wall.
If the carpet is removed for replacement or refurbishment, inspect the gripper strips for loose nails, split timber or exposed pins. Replace damaged sections before fitting new underlay and carpet.
