Fix BU200 to a clean, dry and sound subfloor using a suitable proprietary contact adhesive. For the smoothest finish, Gradus recommends feathering the tapered edge with a thin layer of latex cement before fitting the final floorcovering. Always check the floorcovering and trim manufacturer’s installation guidance before use.
Gradus BU200 is a flexible PVC bevelled underlay designed to build up the height of resilient flooring where a smooth, flush transition is needed. It is particularly useful when fitting thinner flooring alongside stair edgings, trims or a floorcovering with a different thickness.
The tapered profile raises the floorcovering by up to 2 mm while reducing the abrupt edge that can otherwise create a trip point. It is a small but important finishing detail that helps an installation look neater and perform more safely.
Supplied as a 15 metre coil, BU200 is suitable for professional interior flooring projects using sheet vinyl, safety flooring and other resilient floorcoverings.
Gradus BU200 is a 65mm-wide flexible PVC diminishing strip designed to build up resilient floorcoverings by up to 2mm. It creates a gradual transition to help achieve a flush finish alongside compatible stair edgings and adjacent surfaces.
The subfloor must be dry, level, clean and free from dust, grease or loose material. Plan the strip position carefully, cut the 15m coil to the required length and dry-fit it before applying adhesive.
Fix the underlay using a proprietary contact adhesive suitable for both the PVC profile and the subfloor. Press it down evenly along its full length, ensuring that the raised edge is aligned with the floorcovering and that the tapered edge runs smoothly into the surrounding floor.
Feather the tapered edge with a thin layer of suitable latex smoothing compound before fitting the resilient floorcovering, where required. Allow all adhesives and smoothing materials to cure fully in line with their individual instructions before continuing with the flooring installation.

Keep the BU200 bevelled underlay clean as part of the surrounding resilient-floor maintenance routine. Remove loose dust with a soft brush or vacuum attachment, then wipe the exposed edge with a damp cloth and a neutral cleaner where needed.
Avoid abrasive pads, strong solvents and highly alkaline cleaning products, as these may mark or degrade the flexible PVC. Inspect the tapered transition periodically, particularly in busy areas, and address any lifting or damage promptly to preserve a smooth, trip-resistant finish.
