Start with a dry, clean and secure timber subfloor. Fit the sheets with staggered joints, keeping the panel edges well supported, and use an appropriate fixing pattern for the flooring system. Smooth any joints and fixing heads before applying adhesive or fitting the final floor covering.
SP101 Plywood 6mm Small Sheet is a compact flooring-grade plywood panel for preparing timber subfloors ahead of resilient floor-covering installation. It provides a stable, smooth preparation layer that can help improve the finished appearance of flooring laid over existing timber boards.
The smaller 1.22m x 0.61m format is easier to move, cut and fit in restricted spaces, making it a practical choice for smaller rooms, repairs and areas with detailed edges. At 5.5mm manufacturer thickness, it offers a more substantial underlay option while keeping the installation manageable.
This SP101 small sheet measures 1220mm x 610mm and is intended for flooring underlay and subfloor preparation. Prior to fitting, test the moisture content of both the plywood and timber subfloor; Hanson advises that the readings should be within 2% of one another.
If the moisture contents are not sufficiently close, leave the boards in the room to acclimatise until they reach equilibrium. Clean the subfloor thoroughly so the plywood can sit flat, then plan a staggered layout, avoiding aligned joints across adjacent sheets.
Secure each panel with suitable countersunk screws or ring-shank nails, selected for the subfloor construction. Hanson recommends maximum fixing centres of 100mm around the perimeter, approximately 12mm from the edges, and 150mm across the panel field.
Finish with a smooth, secure and dust-free surface before fitting the selected floorcovering. Refer to the Hanson SP101 application guidelines before installation.

SP101 plywood should remain dry and protected while it is exposed during installation. Keep the 6mm panels clear of standing water, adhesive spills, dirt and unnecessary site traffic until the finished flooring is ready to be laid.
Before covering, vacuum the surface and check for proud fixings, damaged edges, swollen areas or uneven joints. Any moisture introduced by seam filler or levelling products must be allowed to dry fully before the final floorcovering is installed.
