Fit over a clean, dry, smooth and level subfloor. Lay the underlay flat, closely butt the joins together and secure them with suitable underlay tape. Install a compatible carpet using the correct fitting method, and check that the combined tog value is suitable before use over underfloor heating.
Footfall Serenity Supreme is a thick crumb-and-felt carpet underlay that brings a softer, more insulated feel to carpeted rooms. At 11 mm thick, it is designed for comfort underfoot while giving the carpet a durable, supportive layer beneath it.
The combination of recycled felt fibres and crumb rubber gives this underlay a substantial feel and good recovery in busy areas. It is suitable for heavy commercial use, yet is equally at home in bedrooms, lounges, hallways and staircases where warmth and sound reduction are valued.
With 34 dB impact sound insulation, Serenity Supreme can help reduce footfall noise through the floor. Its 100% recycled-fibre content also makes it a considered choice for projects looking to use recycled materials without compromising on performance.
Allow the underlay and carpet to acclimatise in the room before fitting. The subfloor should be dry, clean, level and stable, with uneven areas repaired and any raised nails, screws or loose material removed.
For a typical stretch-fit carpet installation, fix suitable gripper around the room perimeter and lay the 11mm underlay smoothly across the floor. Butt adjoining lengths tightly together without gaps or overlaps, secure all joints with suitable underlay tape and trim cleanly around walls, thresholds, door frames and fixed items.
Fit the carpet over the completed underlay using the correct stretching equipment, then secure the edges neatly to the gripper. Confirm that the selected carpet and fitting system are appropriate for the planned traffic level and do not use a double-stick method unless it is specifically approved for the carpet and underlay combination.

Footfall Serenity Supreme is concealed beneath the carpet, so no direct maintenance is required once it has been installed. Keep the carpet clean through regular vacuuming and use a cleaning method appropriate for its pile and backing, avoiding excessive saturation that could allow moisture to reach the underlay.
If the area suffers a leak, flood or major spill, inspect the flooring system promptly. Moisture trapped beneath the carpet can cause odours and affect the condition of the underlay, carpet backing and subfloor.
