ARDEX Coarse Aggregate is a dry, pre-packed 3mm graded aggregate used to bulk out compatible ARDEX smoothing and levelling compounds when a thicker application is needed.
It is a useful addition when the floor has deeper uneven areas, low spots or repairs that need building up before the final floor finish is installed. By adding the aggregate in the correct ratio, you can increase the application depth of selected ARDEX compounds while making the job more economical on larger areas.
This is not a levelling compound on its own. It must be mixed with a suitable ARDEX product and used in line with the relevant technical guidance. It is commonly used for deeper floor-preparation work where a standard neat application would not be suitable or cost-effective.
ARDEX Coarse Aggregate is a dry, pre-packed 3mm graded material used to bulk out suitable ARDEX subfloor smoothing compounds where a deeper application is required. It must not be used as a standalone levelling material.
First prepare and mix the compatible ARDEX compound in accordance with its own technical instructions. Add ARDEX Coarse Aggregate only at the ratio and depth permitted for that product, then mix thoroughly until the aggregate is evenly distributed throughout the material.
Place and level the mixed compound using the appropriate tools, ensuring the correct minimum thickness is maintained above the aggregate. Allow the installation to harden and dry in line with the smoothing compound’s stated requirements before applying the final flooring.

ARDEX Coarse Aggregate is an additive used within compatible ARDEX smoothing compounds, so it does not require separate aftercare once mixed and installed. The prepared floor should be protected from moisture, dirt, impact and site traffic until the smoothing compound has hardened and the final floor finish is fitted.
Store unopened bags in a dry, weather-protected area and keep them off damp ground. Do not use aggregate that has become contaminated or wet, as this may affect the consistency and performance of the mixed compound.
