Carpenter Hi Lux HD 11mm is a high-density PU foam carpet underlay designed to make a new carpet feel softer, warmer and more substantial underfoot. Its generous 11mm thickness is ideal when comfort is a priority, adding a deep cushioned feel without compromising the support beneath the carpet.
Made for domestic rooms, this underlay also helps reduce everyday impact noise and improve thermal insulation. It is a good choice for bedrooms, lounges and living areas where you want the carpet to feel more luxurious and the room to feel more comfortable.
Fit Carpenter Hi Lux HD over a dry, clean, smooth and structurally sound subfloor. Repair uneven areas, remove protruding fixings and make sure the floor is free from debris before starting.
Lay the underlay with the appropriate side facing up, following the markings or instructions on the roll. Butt the edges closely together without overlapping, trim neatly around the perimeter and secure joins with suitable underlay tape. Avoid stretching, compressing or leaving gaps between runs.
For carpet installation, position gripper around the room perimeter before laying the underlay, keeping it clear of the wall as required for stretching. Fit the carpet over the underlay using the correct stretch-fitting method and trim carefully at doorways, stairs and thresholds.
Hi Lux HD 11mm is a domestic PU carpet underlay with approximately 15m² coverage per roll. Confirm that its thickness is suitable for the chosen carpet, doors and transitions before fitting.

Carpenter Hi Lux HD is installed beneath the carpet and does not require routine cleaning once fitted. Keep the roll dry, clean and protected from damage before installation; do not use material that has become wet, heavily compressed or contaminated.
During fitting, prevent grit, offcuts and adhesive from being trapped between the underlay and carpet. This helps maintain an even finish and avoids marking through the carpet over time.
The performance of the underlay depends on the condition of the carpet and subfloor above and below it. Address any signs of carpet movement, rippling or damaged gripper promptly rather than attempting to treat the underlay in place.
