Carpenter Hi Lux HD 9mm is a high-density PU foam carpet underlay designed to give carpets a more comfortable and supportive feel. It offers a balanced 9mm profile, adding noticeable cushioning beneath the carpet while keeping a firm, stable base for everyday domestic use.
Its 125kg/m³ high-density construction helps the underlay hold its shape under regular footfall, while the 2.34 tog thermal rating and 43dB sound insulation help create a warmer, quieter room. It is a reliable choice for living spaces, bedrooms and other areas where comfort and long-term carpet support matter.
Prepare the subfloor so it is dry, clean, even and structurally stable. Repair raised areas, uneven patches and loose boards before laying the underlay, and remove any debris that could show through the carpet.
Install gripper around the perimeter of the room where stretch-fitting carpet is being used. Lay the 9mm underlay in runs with the correct side facing up, following any guidance printed on the material. Butt edges together neatly without overlap, then tape all joins securely.
Trim the underlay accurately around walls, door frames and fixed items. Fit the carpet over the underlay using appropriate stretching equipment, ensuring it is tensioned evenly and secured correctly to the gripper.
Check door clearances and transitions before fitting, especially where the carpet meets another floor finish. Hi Lux HD 9mm is intended for domestic carpet installations and provides a supportive base without the extra height of a thicker underlay.

Carpenter Hi Lux HD 9mm is a carpet underlay and is not designed to be cleaned after installation. Store it in a dry, protected area before fitting and avoid using any section that has been damaged, contaminated or exposed to excessive moisture.
Keep the subfloor and underlay clear of dust, sharp fragments and loose fixings during installation. Once the carpet is fitted, protect the finished floor from flooding or prolonged dampness, which can affect the carpet installation and the materials beneath it.
If the carpet develops ripples, movement or damage at a doorway, have the fitting checked rather than attempting to repair the underlay through the carpet.
