Fit Sigma over a clean, dry, smooth and level subfloor. Lay the underlay flat with the joins butted neatly together and secured with suitable underlay tape. Install a compatible carpet using the stretch-fit method and follow the carpet manufacturer’s fitting instructions.
Duralay Sigma 9 mm is a polyurethane rebond carpet underlay made for comfortable, long-lasting domestic carpet installations. It gives the carpet a supportive layer between the pile and subfloor, helping rooms feel warmer, quieter and more comfortable to walk on.
At 9 mm thick, Sigma offers a firm yet cushioned feel that works well throughout the home. Its luxury-use classification makes it a dependable choice for everyday rooms, including areas that see regular family use.
The rebond foam construction also provides 39 dB impact sound insulation and a 2.37 tog thermal rating. It is designed for stretch-fit carpet installation and comes in a roll covering 15.07 m².
Allow the underlay and carpet to acclimatise in the room before installation. Prepare a subfloor that is clean, dry, level and sound, repairing loose boards, hollows, protruding fixings and other defects before the underlay is laid.
Duralay Sigma is designed for stretch-fit carpet installation. Fix suitable gripper around the perimeter, leaving the necessary clearance at skirtings and thresholds. Lay the 9mm underlay smoothly over the floor, keeping joints tightly butted together rather than overlapped, and tape every joint securely.
Trim the underlay accurately around door frames, corners and fixed items. Stretch and secure the carpet over the completed underlay using the appropriate fitting equipment, ensuring that edges and seams are properly finished.

Duralay Sigma is a polyurethane rebond carpet underlay that remains protected beneath the carpet, so no separate maintenance is needed after fitting. Preserve its performance by following the carpet manufacturer’s cleaning guidance and avoiding excessive wet cleaning that could drive moisture into the underlay.
If water reaches the subfloor through a leak, flood or major spill, investigate the affected area promptly. The carpet and underlay may need to be lifted and dried or replaced if moisture has become trapped beneath the floor covering.
