Install over a clean, dry and level subfloor before fitting the carpet. Lay the underlay flat with edges closely butted together, without overlapping, then trim it neatly around the room perimeter. Use suitable carpet gripper and fitting materials for a secure final installation.
CFS Regent 8 mm PU Underlay is a practical carpet underlay for everyday homes. It adds a comfortable layer beneath carpet without creating as much extra height as a thicker underlay, making it a useful choice for rooms where doors, thresholds or transitions need to be considered.
Made from foam chip with a prime PU foam backing, Regent 8 mm provides a supportive cushion beneath the carpet. It is easy to handle during fitting and comes in a roll covering 15.07 m², giving good coverage for bedrooms, living rooms and other carpeted spaces.
With a luxury classification and a Class 33 heavy commercial performance rating, it offers dependable day-to-day support for domestic carpet installations. It is a sensible option when you want improved comfort and a stable base at a cost-effective level.
CFS Regent 8mm PU Underlay is intended for carpet installations in general domestic areas. Ensure the selected carpet, gripper, underlay and finishing trims are suitable for the room and the anticipated level of use.
The subfloor should be dry, firm, clean, smooth and free from grease, dust, loose material and old adhesive residues. Repair any defects before laying the underlay. Where the floor requires moisture protection, install the appropriate damp-proof system separately.
Lay the underlay flat with the correct side uppermost and bring adjoining lengths together edge to edge. Do not overlap the joints. Trim it accurately around walls, door frames and fixed objects, then tape the seams where needed to keep the material in position during fitting.
For a stretch-fit carpet, install suitable gripper around the perimeter while leaving the required wall gap. Fit, stretch and secure the carpet in accordance with the carpet manufacturer’s instructions, then complete the doorway and edge details with appropriate trims.

CFS Regent 8mm PU Underlay is protected beneath the carpet and does not need its own regular cleaning. Keep the carpet clean and dry above it, as this supports the condition of the entire floor installation.
Store unused underlay indoors, away from damp conditions, dust and heavy site traffic. It is not designed to correct poor subfloor preparation or replace a damp-proof membrane where one is needed.
If the carpet is removed in the future, check the underlay for moisture, damage or excessive compression before deciding whether it can be retained.
