Prepare the subfloor so it is clean, dry, sound and level before installation. Use an adhesive system suitable for both the underlay and ceramic flooring, and follow the tile adhesive manufacturer’s guidance throughout. Always confirm compatibility with the full flooring system before fitting.
CFS Recolay 6 mm Underlay is an acoustic layer made for use beneath ceramic flooring. It is designed for projects where a tiled floor is required but impact noise needs to be considered, helping create a more comfortable result in homes, apartments and commercial interiors.
Made from 100% recycled cork and rubber, Recolay 6 mm provides a dense, supportive base beneath the finished ceramic floor. Its 6 mm thickness helps improve acoustic comfort while giving the tile installation a more substantial foundation than a thinner underlay.
With 19 dB impact sound reduction and a 10-year in-use warranty, it is suitable for heavy domestic and general commercial projects. Each roll covers 10 m², making it a practical choice for bedrooms, living spaces, landings and public-facing interiors where ceramic flooring is being installed.
CFS Recolay 6mm is an acoustic cork-and-rubber underlay for use beneath ceramic flooring. Confirm that the chosen ceramic tile, adhesive, grout and complete installation system are approved for use over this underlay before work begins. Ceramic installations should be completed by an experienced professional.
Prepare the subfloor to be dry, clean, smooth, level and structurally sound. Remove all dust, grease, paint, old adhesive and loose material, and repair cracks or uneven areas before laying the underlay. Check the floor’s moisture condition and any required waterproofing or damp-proofing measures separately.
Acclimatise the underlay in the installation environment, then lay it flat with tightly butted joints. Do not overlap, crease or leave gaps between lengths. Cut cleanly around walls, door frames and fixed objects while keeping the surface even and fully supported.
Bond the underlay and ceramic finish only with products specified as compatible by the relevant manufacturer. Follow the required adhesive coverage, trowel selection, open time, curing and movement-joint requirements. Do not tile over an installation until the bonding system is ready for the next stage.

CFS Recolay 6mm Underlay is installed beneath ceramic flooring and has no surface-care routine of its own. Maintain the completed ceramic finish using the tile and grout manufacturers’ recommended cleaning products and methods.
Before it is covered, keep the underlay clean, dry and free from punctures, heavy point loads and construction debris. Do not rely on it to remedy an uneven, weak or damp base; these issues must be corrected before installation.
If cracking, movement or moisture becomes visible in the finished tiled floor, seek professional advice before repairs are carried out. The condition of the subfloor and bonding system should be assessed, not just the visible tile.
