Prepare the subfloor so it is sound, dry and free from contaminants. Select the correct STOPGAP liquid and primer system for the substrate, then mix and apply the compound in line with F. Ball’s current technical guidance. Allow adequate drying time before fitting the chosen floor covering.
STOPGAP GREEN BAG is a fast-setting, general-purpose smoothing compound for preparing sound internal subfloors before new flooring is installed. It is suitable for light to heavy-duty applications and produces a smooth, stable base for a wide range of floor coverings.
The 25kg powder must be mixed with the appropriate STOPGAP gauging liquid. STOPGAP 114 Liquid is used where priming is not required on suitable absorbent or non-absorbent surfaces, while STOPGAP 128 Liquid is used in conjunction with the relevant STOPGAP primer.
STOPGAP GREEN BAG is a 25kg general-purpose smoothing-compound powder. It is used with the appropriate STOPGAP liquid to prepare sound internal subfloors for new floorcoverings in light- to heavy-duty areas.
The subfloor must be clean, sound and free from loose material, grease and contaminants. Select the correct liquid and preparation method for the project. With STOPGAP 114 Liquid, the system can be used on suitable absorbent and non-absorbent surfaces without priming; with STOPGAP 128 Liquid, use STOPGAP P131 or P121 primer as specified.
Mix the powder with the selected F. Ball liquid in the proportions stated in the current technical data sheet. Apply evenly from 3mm to 20mm, using appropriate smoothing tools and a spiked roller where required.
At 20°C, the surface is typically walkable from around 90 minutes. At 3mm, GREEN BAG mixed with 114 Liquid can normally receive floorcoverings from approximately 12 hours, while the 128 Liquid system is generally ready from 24 hours.

Once STOPGAP GREEN BAG has cured, keep the smoothed subfloor clean, dry and protected until the final flooring is installed. Avoid allowing dust, moisture, site traffic or other contamination to damage the prepared surface.
Before applying adhesive or a moisture-control membrane, remove any loose debris and inspect the floor for a sound, even finish. The compound is not a final wearing surface, so ongoing care will be determined by the completed floor system.
