Ensure the existing timber subfloor is dry, sound, clean and firmly secured before installation. Lay the plywood with staggered joints, fix it in accordance with the flooring-system guidance, and fill or smooth joints as needed before laying the finished floor covering.
SP101 Plywood 4mm Small Sheet is a practical flooring-grade plywood underlay for preparing timber subfloors before installing the final floor finish. It helps provide a smoother, more consistent base beneath resilient flooring, reducing the impact of minor joins and surface irregularities.
At 1.22m x 0.61m, this compact sheet is easier to handle and transport than a full-size board. It is particularly useful for smaller rooms, repairs, patch areas and detailed fitting work where a large sheet would create unnecessary waste.
This 4mm SP101 small sheet measures 1220mm x 610mm and is intended for subfloor preparation. Store sheets flat in a dry area and allow them to settle to site conditions before fitting.
The subfloor must be sound, dry, level and suitable for the chosen flooring system. Where fitting over floorboards, lay the panels perpendicular to the existing boards and stagger the joints to avoid a continuous line of weakness.
Cut sheets accurately around walls, frames and fixed fittings. Use a suitable fixing method for the substrate; Hanson’s guidance recommends countersunk fixings at no more than 100mm centres around the panel perimeter, set approximately 12mm in from the edge, and at no more than 150mm centres within the board.
Ensure all fasteners are flush and the finished surface is smooth, dry and free from dust before laying the floorcovering. Refer to the Hanson SP101 application guidelines before installation.

SP101 plywood is designed as a subfloor layer, not as the visible finished floor. Keep the installed boards dry, clean and protected from spills, debris and heavy site traffic until the final floorcovering is fitted.
Before covering, inspect the surface for raised fixings, damaged faces, swollen edges or uneven joints. Repair or replace affected sections and remove all dust before applying adhesive or installing the final finish.
