For the best finish, install Loftex over a clean, dry, smooth and stable subfloor. Although it is designed for loose-lay fitting, always follow Gerflor’s installation guidance and use a professional flooring fitter where the room layout, existing floor or site conditions require it.
Gerflor Loftex Looselay Vinyl is a comfortable, practical sheet-vinyl floor made for everyday homes. Its textile backing gives it a softer feel underfoot than many standard vinyls, while its loose-lay format can make installation quicker and less disruptive.
The 2.5 mm cushioned construction helps reduce household noise by up to 15 dB, which is especially welcome in bedrooms, living rooms and upstairs spaces. A 0.3 mm wear layer and R10 slip resistance provide dependable performance for busy day-to-day living.
Loftex is available in a range of realistic timber, tile and contemporary designs, making it easy to achieve a refreshed look without the cost or maintenance demands of natural materials. Its backing incorporates recycled fibres, adding a thoughtful touch to a budget-friendly flooring choice.
Bring the vinyl into the installation room and allow it to acclimatise before fitting. The subfloor must be dry, clean, smooth, sound and free from debris, as surface imperfections may show through the finished floor. Repair damaged areas and fill open joints or depressions before laying.
Loftex is designed for glue-free loose-lay installation in suitable areas. Measure and cut the sheet carefully, allowing for walls, recesses and doorways, then lay it flat without tension or trapped air. Finish the perimeter neatly with appropriate trims or edge details.
Confirm that the room size, subfloor and expected use are suitable for loose-lay fitting. Larger spaces, corridors, doorways and areas subject to heavier movement may require perimeter fixing, double-sided tape or another installation method specified by the manufacturer. Check the flooring is stable and flat before the room is brought into use.

Gerflor Loftex Looselay Vinyl is straightforward to maintain with regular sweeping or vacuuming using a soft floor-tool attachment. Clean with a damp mop and a neutral vinyl-floor cleaner, then remove excess water rather than leaving moisture to sit at edges or seams.
Avoid abrasive powders, solvent-based products, scouring pads and steam cleaners, as these can damage the surface finish. Use protective pads beneath furniture feet, lift rather than drag heavy items, and place suitable mats at entrances to reduce grit being walked onto the floor.
