Safestep Aqua should be installed by an experienced sheet-vinyl fitter on a clean, dry, smooth and level subfloor. In wetrooms, use the appropriate Forbo-approved installation system, including correctly welded seams and suitable wall and edge detailing, so the complete floor system is fit for the environment.
Forbo Safestep Aqua is specialist safety vinyl flooring for wet areas where people are likely to walk barefoot or in soft-soled shoes. Its embossed surface is designed to stay secure under water and soap conditions, making it a dependable choice for commercial wetrooms and changing facilities.
Unlike general safety flooring, Safestep Aqua achieves the highest barefoot safety classification, DIN 51097 Class C. With a 2 mm overall thickness and 0.7 mm wear layer, it offers a durable surface for demanding environments while keeping a clean, contemporary appearance.
The range is colour coordinated with Forbo Surestep Laguna, helping adjoining barefoot and transition areas feel more considered and consistent. It is made for heavy commercial use and straightforward ongoing maintenance.
Acclimatise the unopened flooring packs and underlay in the installation room before fitting. Ensure the subfloor is clean, dry, smooth and structurally sound. Correct notable high spots, hollows and loose areas before installation; the underlay is suitable for masking only minor surface imperfections.
Lay the 3.5mm underlay beneath a compatible floating wood or laminate floor, following the orientation shown on the roll. Place each length close to the next without overlaps or gaps, then tape every joint with suitable moisture-resistant underlay tape to maintain a continuous barrier.
Trim neatly around door frames, pipes and fixed features. Fit the floating floor in accordance with its own installation instructions, retaining the specified expansion gap around walls and fixed items. Confirm that the selected floor is approved for use over this underlay and any underfloor-heating system before work begins.

Footfall Serenity Underwood is installed beneath the finished wood or laminate floor and requires no separate cleaning. Maintain the floor above according to its manufacturer’s guidance, wiping spills promptly and avoiding excess water at joints, skirting edges and door thresholds.
The integrated moisture barrier helps protect the floor from moisture below, but it does not remove the need for a dry, sound subfloor. Investigate leaks or persistent damp promptly, as moisture can still damage the flooring system if it enters through joints, edges or service penetrations.
