Prepare the subfloor so it is clean, dry, smooth and level before installation. Use compatible adhesives and follow the installation instructions for both the underlay and the floor covering above it. Always confirm that your chosen flooring manufacturer permits an underlay within its installation system.
CFS Recolay 3 mm Underlay is a versatile acoustic layer for projects where reducing impact noise matters but you do not want to add too much height beneath the finished floor. It is suitable for use under carpet tiles, sheet vinyl, click LVT and linoleum, subject to the flooring manufacturer’s installation guidance.
Made from 100% recycled cork and rubber, Recolay provides a firm, supportive base under the floor covering while helping make the space quieter underfoot. Its 3 mm profile offers a useful balance between acoustic comfort and keeping the finished floor level manageable, particularly in refurbishment work.
Each roll covers 15 m², making it practical for both domestic and contract installations. Before fitting, always check that the chosen floor covering and adhesive system are approved for use with an acoustic underlay.
CFS Recolay 3mm is an acoustic underlay for carpet tiles, sheet vinyl, click LVT and linoleum. Confirm that the intended floorcovering and installation system are approved for use over this underlay before starting, as the bonding or floating method will depend on the finish selected.
Prepare the subfloor so it is dry, level, smooth, clean and structurally sound. Remove dust, grease, paint, old adhesive residues and loose material, then repair all defects before laying the underlay. It will not smooth over uneven subfloors or resolve moisture problems.
Acclimatise the rolls in the installation environment, then lay them flat over the prepared surface. Position adjoining lengths with neat, close butt joints, avoiding gaps, overlaps, folds and ripples. Cut the material accurately around walls, doorways and fixed fittings.
Secure the underlay and install the chosen floorcovering using the method specified by its manufacturer. For bonded finishes, use an adhesive system suitable for the covering, underlay and subfloor. For click LVT, follow the board manufacturer’s requirements for the underlay, expansion allowance and perimeter detailing. Complete all exposed edges with appropriate trims.

CFS Recolay 3mm Underlay sits beneath the finished floor, so it requires no day-to-day maintenance once the installation is complete. Its performance is protected by maintaining the floorcovering above it in line with that product’s own cleaning guidance.
Before installation, store the underlay in a clean, dry location and protect it from moisture, site debris and heavy loads. Do not install it over a damp or contaminated subfloor, as the underlay is not a substitute for moisture control or floor preparation.
If the finished floor is damaged or lifted, investigate the cause before replacing it. Any water ingress or movement in the floor system should be resolved before the underlay or covering is reinstated.
