ARDEX FEATHER FINISH is a quick-drying patching compound used to smooth small imperfections in a subfloor before new flooring is installed. It is ideal for dealing with trowel marks, footprints, ridges, day joints, shallow depressions and other minor surface defects that can show through a finished floor.
It can be worked down to a true feather edge, allowing the repair to blend smoothly into the surrounding floor. This makes it particularly useful when preparing flooring-grade plywood, existing levelling compounds, concrete and other suitably prepared surfaces.
The compound dries quickly, so floor coverings can be fitted after as little as 15 minutes in suitable conditions. It does not normally require a primer, helping keep small repair jobs simple and fast. An 11kg bag can cover up to 50m² when used as a skim coat at feather edge.
Ensure the area is clean, sound and free from dust, grease, loose material and other contaminants. ARDEX FEATHER FINISH is designed for patching minor imperfections, including trowel marks, footprints, ridges, joints and shallow depressions in suitable subfloor surfaces.
Mix two parts powder with one part clean water until a smooth, lump-free paste is formed. Apply with a steel trowel, pressing the material firmly into the surface and feathering the edges to create a seamless transition. No priming is generally required on suitable backgrounds.
Work within the approximate 15-minute pot life at 20°C. The compound dries rapidly and can receive floor coverings after around 15 minutes, subject to thickness, temperature and site conditions.

ARDEX FEATHER FINISH is intended to prepare the subfloor immediately before the final floor covering is installed. Keep the finished skim coat clean, dry and protected from dust, spills and construction traffic until that next stage is complete.
Check the surface before applying adhesive or flooring. Remove any loose debris and repair any damage caused by other trades so that the base remains smooth and free from imperfections.
