Acoustifoam should be installed only in accordance with Polyflor’s current system and installation guidance, using the specified adhesive and compatible top-layer vinyl. It is not suitable for use with Polyflor vinyl tiles or planks, rubber tiles or ESD ranges. Ensure the subfloor is clean, dry, smooth and properly prepared before fitting.
Polyflor Acoustifoam is a 2mm closed-cell PVC foam backing sheet designed to reduce impact sound beneath compatible Polyflor vinyl sheet flooring. It is a practical acoustic solution for projects where noise transfer to the space below needs to be reduced without limiting the choice of finish above.
When used as part of an approved system with 2mm Polyflor vinyl sheet, Acoustifoam can provide up to 19dB impact-sound reduction. This makes it well suited to commercial and multi-occupancy environments where footfall noise is an important consideration.
Polyflor Acoustifoam is a 2mm closed-cell PVC foam backing sheet designed for use beneath compatible Polyflor vinyl or rubber sheet flooring with a minimum 2mm gauge. It is not suitable for use with vinyl tiles or planks, rubber tiles or ESD floorcoverings.
Prepare the subfloor so it is smooth, dry, clean and structurally sound. Any imperfections can show through the finished floor, so repair cracks, unevenness and surface defects before installation. Allow the Acoustifoam and the chosen top layer to acclimatise in the installation area.
Plan the roll layout carefully, allowing for the direction of the finished sheet flooring and avoiding unnecessary joins. Fit Acoustifoam using Polyflor’s recommended adhesive system and installation method, ensuring the sheet lies flat without trapped air, ridges or overlaps.
Install the compatible sheet flooring above the underlay in accordance with the relevant Polyflor fitting instructions. Complete seams, edges and transitions as specified for the selected floorcovering, then allow the adhesive system to cure before normal traffic is permitted.

Acoustifoam is an underlay layer and should not remain exposed in service. Keep rolls clean, dry and protected from damage before installation, storing them indoors and away from direct heat or sunlight.
Once the floor system is complete, maintenance should follow the guidance for the selected Polyflor sheet flooring laid above the underlay. Avoid damage to the finished surface from sharp objects, heavy dragged loads or unsuitable cleaning products.
If the finished floor is lifted for repair, inspect the Acoustifoam for compression, tears or loss of bond before reinstating the floor covering.
