Ball & Young Caviar & Crystal 11 is a premium carpet underlay made for homeowners who want a softer, more comfortable feel beneath their carpet. At 11mm thick, it adds noticeable cushioning underfoot, making it a great choice for bedrooms, living rooms, stairs and other luxury domestic spaces.
The Cloud 9 APT core has strong recovery properties, helping the underlay bounce back after everyday use and furniture pressure. This gives the carpet a supportive base while helping it keep a comfortable feel over time.
Caviar & Crystal 11 also helps reduce impact noise by up to 41dB, making it useful in homes where quieter rooms and softer footsteps are important. Its 2.7 tog thermal rating adds an extra layer of warmth and insulation between the carpet and subfloor.
It includes Ultra-Fresh antimicrobial technology, which helps protect the underlay and carpet from the growth of fungi and bacteria, while the built-in deodorising protection helps keep the installation fresher for longer.
Install over a clean, dry, smooth and secure subfloor. Remove loose debris, old fixings and protrusions before laying the underlay, as these can affect the finish and comfort of the carpet above.
Lay the underlay with the stitch-bonded white crepe-paper surface facing upwards towards the carpet and the non-woven fabric underside against the subfloor. Place adjoining lengths edge to edge without overlap, trim neatly around the perimeter and tape the seams with suitable underlay tape.
Fit carpet gripper around the room perimeter where required, then stretch-fit the carpet in accordance with the carpet manufacturer’s instructions. This 11mm underlay is intended for luxury domestic rooms, including living rooms, bedrooms and stairs.

Caviar & Crystal 11mm is installed beneath the carpet, so it needs no day-to-day cleaning once fitted. Keeping the carpet dry and following its care guidance will help protect the underlay and preserve the comfort of the installation.
If the carpet is lifted in future, inspect the underlay for moisture damage, compression or tears. Replace any affected sections before refitting or replacing the carpet, particularly following leaks or prolonged damp conditions.
