ARDEX K 40 FLOW is a high-flow levelling compound for smoothing and levelling internal subfloors before new flooring is installed. It is a good choice when you need a clean, even finish without spending extra time patching over trowel marks, ridges or small surface imperfections the following day.
Once mixed, the compound flows easily across the floor and can be applied with a trowel or pin leveller. This helps it settle into an even surface with less effort, making it particularly useful before fitting LVT, vinyl, carpet, laminate or timber flooring.
ARDEX K 40 FLOW can be applied from 2mm to 20mm in one application. It is walkable in approximately two hours, while resilient and timber floor coverings can be installed after as little as six hours in suitable conditions. A 22kg bag covers around 5m² at 3mm thickness.
It is suitable for use over compatible underfloor heating systems. It can also be used on flooring-grade plywood when the plywood has been correctly primed with neat ARDEX P 51.
Prepare the subfloor so it is sound, dry, clean and free from dust, grease, loose material and other contaminants. Carry out the required priming and moisture-control work for the substrate before application. Where flooring-grade plywood is used, ensure it is securely fixed and neatly primed.
Mix the 22kg bag with clean water at the manufacturer’s stated ratio using a mechanical mixer. Blend until the compound is smooth and lump-free, then pour it onto the prepared floor. Spread with a trowel or pin leveller, allowing the high-flow formulation to settle into a flat, even surface.
ARDEX K 40 FLOW can be applied from 2mm to 20mm in a single application. Work within its approximate 30-minute working time at 20°C and avoid disturbing the material as it begins to set. The floor is walkable after around two hours, while resilient and timber floor coverings can be installed from approximately six hours, subject to thickness and site conditions.

ARDEX K 40 FLOW is a subfloor levelling compound and should be covered by the specified final floor finish. After application, keep the prepared surface dry, clean and protected from construction traffic, spillages and damage until flooring is fitted.
Before applying adhesive or laying the final covering, inspect the surface for dust, debris or accidental damage. Remove contamination and make good any affected areas before continuing, so the finished floor is installed over a smooth, stable base.
