Ensure the substrate is sound, dry, clean and securely fixed before application. Mix STOPGAP 700 with clean water in accordance with F. Ball’s current instructions, then apply at the required depth. Where installed over plywood or wire-heating systems, follow the manufacturer’s preparation and thickness guidance carefully.
STOPGAP 700 is a fibre-modified, self-levelling smoothing compound developed for use over flexible subfloors. Its reinforced formulation helps it accommodate the small movements that can occur in plywood, steel and raised-access-panel constructions, creating a reliable base for new floor coverings.
The water-mix compound combines flexibility with fast-drying performance, making it a strong choice for refurbishment and fast-track work. It can be applied from 2mm to 10mm and allows resilient floor coverings to be installed from approximately three hours under suitable conditions.
STOPGAP 700 is a fibre-modified, water-mix smoothing compound designed for internal flexible substrates. It helps create a stable base over materials that may experience limited movement, including plywood, steel and raised access panels.
Prepare the subfloor so it is dry, clean, sound and securely fixed. Plywood and other panel substrates must be stable and properly supported before application. Confirm the required preparation and primer for the particular subfloor and floorcovering system.
Mix the 20kg powder with clean water in line with the current F. Ball technical data sheet, then apply evenly at the specified thickness. STOPGAP 700 can be used from 2mm to 10mm and may also encapsulate wire heating systems over plywood, up to a maximum thickness of 10mm.
At 20°C, the surface is normally walkable after around 60 minutes. Resilient floorcoverings can generally be installed from approximately 3 hours, subject to thickness and site conditions.

Once STOPGAP 700 has cured, keep the prepared surface clean, dry and protected until the final floorcovering is fitted. Do not allow damage, loose debris or contamination to affect the smoothed layer before adhesive is applied.
STOPGAP 700 is a subfloor preparation product rather than a finished floor surface. After the floorcovering is installed, follow the manufacturer’s care and maintenance guidance for that final flooring.
