CFS Doublestick 6.5mm Underlay is a dense commercial crumb-rubber underlay made for double-stick carpet installations. It is designed to provide a firm, resilient base beneath the floorcovering, helping the carpet stay stable and perform well in areas with regular use.
Made with a high content of recycled vehicle tyres, this underlay combines strength with a practical recycled-material composition. Its compact 6.5 mm profile gives good support without adding excessive height, making it a useful option where door clearances and transitions need to be considered.
With a Class 33 heavy-commercial rating, CFS Doublestick is suited to demanding contract environments as well as heavy domestic use. It is commonly used beneath fibre-bonded sheets and commercial carpets where a secure double-stick installation is required.
Prepare the subfloor so it is dry, clean, smooth and structurally sound. Remove loose material, contaminants and surface irregularities, then check that the selected adhesives are suitable for both the subfloor and the carpet being installed.
CFS Doublestick is installed using a double-stick method: the underlay is bonded to the subfloor first, then the carpet is bonded to the underlay. Apply the first adhesive evenly in accordance with its technical instructions and lay the 6.5mm crumb-rubber underlay flat, with edges tightly butted and all joins securely taped where required.
Once the underlay bond has cured as specified, apply the appropriate carpet adhesive to its upper surface. Observe the adhesive’s open time and working time, then lay the carpet carefully without stretching or trapping air. Roll the finished floor with a suitable roller to achieve an even bond.
Trim accurately at walls, doorways and fixed features, and finish exposed edges with suitable profiles. This heavy-commercial underlay should be fitted by an experienced flooring installer using compatible products throughout.

CFS Doublestick 6.5mm is a contract underlay that is fully enclosed within the flooring system, so it requires no routine cleaning after installation. Store it flat in a dry, protected area before fitting and avoid using material that is contaminated, wet or damaged.
Keep the subfloor and the upper surface of the underlay free from dust, grit and adhesive contamination during installation. A clean bond line is essential to the performance of a double-stick carpet system.
If the fitted carpet later shows movement, rippling or edge lifting, have the installation assessed by a professional. Do not attempt to pull up or repair the underlay through the carpet.
