Assess the subfloor before use and make sure it is clean, stable, dry and free from dust, grease or loose material. Repair movement or damage before application, then use the appropriate UZIN primer for the substrate. When installing over underfloor heating, ensure the system has been correctly commissioned and that pipes are covered by at least 10mm of compound.
UZIN NC 196 is a fibre-reinforced, cement-based smoothing compound for internal subfloor preparation. It is designed for applications where a deeper build-up or greater tolerance of minor substrate movement is needed, providing a smooth and absorbent surface before the finished floor is installed.
With an application range of 3mm to 40mm, NC 196 is well suited to renovation work as well as new installations. Its low-stress, pumpable formulation can be used to prepare suitable screeds, concrete, timber-based floors and firmly bonded tiles when used with the correct primer.
UZIN NC 196 is a fibre-reinforced, low-stress cementitious smoothing compound for internal floors. It is designed for levelling and smoothing between 3mm and 40mm, including renovation work over suitable screeds, concrete, flooring-grade plywood, chipboard, secure timber floorboards and ceramic tiles.
The subfloor must be sound, dry, clean and stable. Remove loose material, dust, grease and contaminants, then select the appropriate UZIN primer for the substrate. When working over challenging surfaces such as timber, plywood or tiles, use the specified compatible primer and ensure it has dried fully before application.
Mix the 20kg bag with approximately 3.5–4.25L of clean water, following the current technical data sheet. Pour and spread the compound evenly, using a smoothing trowel, rake or pump system as appropriate. For underfloor heating, make sure the system is correctly installed and commissioned; heating pipes require at least 10mm of NC 196 cover.
At 20°C and 3mm thickness, the surface is usually walkable after 2–3 hours and ready to receive floorcoverings after approximately 24 hours. Refer to the UZIN NC 196 product information before installation.

UZIN NC 196 is a smoothing underlayment rather than a final wearing surface. Once it has set, keep the prepared area clean, dry and protected from dust, moisture, damage and unnecessary traffic until the floorcovering is fitted.
Before continuing with adhesive or flooring, inspect the surface for a sound, smooth finish and remove any loose debris. Follow the maintenance guidance for the completed floorcovering after installation.
