Prepare the subfloor so it is clean, sound and correctly primed where required. Mix STOPGAP 600 with clean water according to F. Ball’s current instructions and apply at the required depth. Once sufficiently cured, cap the surface with a compatible STOPGAP smoothing compound before fitting the final floor covering.
STOPGAP 600 is a deep-section base compound designed to raise and level internal floor areas before a smoothing compound and final floor covering are installed. It offers an efficient way to build up low areas where a standard thin smoothing layer would not provide enough depth.
The pre-blended powder mixes with water and can be applied from 5mm to 75mm in a single application. Suitable for both absorbent and non-absorbent sound subfloors, it provides a stable base for domestic, commercial and heavier-duty flooring projects.
STOPGAP 600 is a water-mix, deep-section base compound for raising internal floor levels in light- to heavy-duty environments. It can be used on suitable sound absorbent and non-absorbent subfloors and applied by hand or pump.
Prepare the substrate so it is clean, sound and free from dust, grease, loose material and other contaminants. Check the required preparation and primer for the existing subfloor. F. Ball recommends STOPGAP P141 when applying STOPGAP 600 over non-absorbent surfaces at depths above 20mm.
Mix the 25kg powder with clean water exactly as directed in the current technical data sheet, then apply evenly between 5mm and 75mm in one application. Allow the compound to level and cure before applying a compatible finishing smoothing compound where required.
At 20°C, the surface is normally walkable after around 90 minutes. It can be capped with selected STOPGAP smoothing compounds from approximately 3 hours, and may receive floorcoverings from around 6 hours, depending on thickness and site conditions

STOPGAP 600 is a deep-section base compound and should be protected once cured until it is covered with the specified smoothing compound or final floor system. Keep the surface clean, dry and free from contamination, impact damage and unnecessary site traffic.
Before continuing the installation, remove dust and inspect the base layer for a sound, even finish. It is not intended to be the final wearing surface, so maintenance requirements will be determined by the floorcovering installed above it.
