Ball & Young Cushilay 10mm is a comfortable PU foam carpet underlay for bedrooms, living rooms and other low to medium-wear areas at home. It gives carpets a noticeably softer, more cushioned feel underfoot while helping the carpet sit evenly and retain its appearance.
The surface gives you extra grip when water, soap, shampoo or similar products are on the At 10mm thick, Cushilay adds a generous layer of comfort without making installation difficult. Each roll covers 15m², making it a practical choice for smaller rooms, bedrooms and general domestic carpet projects.. That makes it particularly useful in busy shower areas, changing rooms, care homes and accessible bathrooms, where safety is a real consideration rather than just a nice extra.
Prepare the subfloor so it is clean, dry, smooth and secure. Remove dust, loose debris, protruding nails or screws, and any uneven areas that could affect the carpet finish.
Lay the 8mm underlay flat across the room, keeping adjoining lengths tightly butted together without overlap. Trim accurately around walls, thresholds and fixed features, then tape the seams using suitable underlay tape.
Install carpet gripper around the perimeter where required, then stretch-fit the carpet in line with the carpet manufacturer’s instructions. This underlay is supplied in a 15m² pack for domestic carpet installations.

Ball & Young Cushilay 10mm is fitted beneath the carpet and does not require routine cleaning after installation. Keep the carpet above well maintained and deal with leaks or wet spills promptly to reduce the risk of moisture reaching the underlay and subfloor.
If the carpet is lifted for repair or replacement, check the underlay for tearing, flattening or damp damage. Replace affected areas before laying new carpet to maintain a smooth, comfortable base.
