Ensure the existing subfloor is clean, dry, level and sound before installation, and follow the underfloor-heating manufacturer’s commissioning guidance. Lay the Heat-Pak boards in accordance with Unifloor’s fitting instructions, ensuring the overlap joints are fully bonded and the finished surface is flat before installing the final floor covering.
Unifloor Heat-Pak is a 7mm dry floor-preparation system designed for fitting over underfloor heating before glue-down resilient flooring or carpet is installed. It creates a smooth, stable surface without the drying time associated with traditional smoothing compounds, helping projects move from preparation to floor fitting more quickly.
The system uses two MDF board layers with an overlapping joint design to form a seamless finish and reduce the risk of board lines showing through the final floor. Its low 0.7 TOG rating supports efficient heat transfer, making it a practical choice for heated floors requiring a stable, ready-to-cover subfloor.
Unifloor Heat-Pak is a 7mm dry, pre-fabricated subfloor system designed for use over underfloor-heating systems. It provides a smooth, stable, free-floating surface for the direct glue-down of resilient floorcoverings and is also suitable beneath carpet.
Prepare the existing floor and heating installation in accordance with the heating-system manufacturer’s instructions. The base must be clean, dry, flat and structurally sound. Confirm that the heating system, Heat-Pak and chosen floorcovering are suitable for use together before beginning installation.
Heat-Pak comprises a 3mm MDF base board and a 4mm top board with an interactive adhesive layer. Lay the system using the specified overlapping-joint arrangement so the boards form a continuous, stable surface and minimise the risk of joints showing through the final finish. The dry system has no curing wait before the final flooring stage.
Glue the compatible final floorcovering directly to the prepared Heat-Pak surface, using an adhesive approved for both the floorcovering and the installation conditions. Heat-Pak has a low thermal resistance of TOG 0.7 and each pack covers approximately 2.88m². Refer to the Unifloor Heat-Pak product information before installation.

Unifloor Heat-Pak forms the concealed preparation layer beneath the finished floor and needs no routine maintenance of its own. Maintain the vinyl, LVT, linoleum, rubber, cork or carpet installed above it in line with that product’s care guidance.
If the finished floor is removed, check the Heat-Pak surface and panel joints for damage before fitting a replacement floorcovering. Keep the system dry and protect it from punctures or unnecessary mechanical fixings that could affect the heating system beneath.
