Prepare the subfloor so it is clean, sound and correctly primed where required. Mix the complete powder-and-liquid system strictly to F. Ball’s current instructions, then apply at the required thickness. Drying times can vary with temperature, humidity, substrate and depth of application.
STOPGAP 1400 is a two-component, high-flow smoothing compound for creating a smooth, level internal subfloor before fitting new floor coverings. The powder and matching gauging liquid combine to give excellent flow and self-smoothing properties, helping installers achieve a consistent surface with less effort.
Designed for efficient floor preparation, the system can be applied from 2mm to 10mm and is suitable for use over a range of prepared internal substrates. Its fast-drying formulation allows foot traffic from around 90 minutes and most floor coverings to be installed from around 12 hours.
Prepare the internal subfloor so it is sound, clean and free from loose material, grease and other contaminants. Assess moisture and use any required primer or moisture-control treatment before application.
Mix the 20kg powder with the supplied 4.5L STOPGAP 1400 Liquid exactly as directed. Apply the high-flow compound at 2mm to 10mm, using suitable smoothing tools to achieve an even, level surface.
Under normal site conditions, the surface can be walked on after approximately 90 minutes and is ready for most floorcoverings from around 12 hours. Drying times can vary with thickness, temperature, humidity and subfloor condition.
STOPGAP 1400 is suitable for a wide range of sound internal subfloors, including concrete, sand/cement screed, calcium sulphate screeds, sound asphalt, terrazzo, ceramic tiles and compatible waterproof surface membranes.

STOPGAP 1400 is a preparation layer and should be protected from moisture, contamination and unnecessary traffic until the final floorcovering has been fitted. Keep the area clean and prevent trades, equipment or stored materials from damaging the newly smoothed surface.
Before applying adhesive or flooring, inspect the compound for damage, surface contamination or uneven areas. Remove dust thoroughly and rectify any defects in line with the flooring system requirements.
